What makes a great superhero movie? Is it the super powered character? A witty teammate who always has a cheeky one-liner? Perhaps a larger-than-life villain or over-the-top fight sequences? Whatever the winning formula is, Justice League hits some of the highs in spite of a few stumbles along the way.

I have an internet connection, and I saw Thor: Ragnarok over the weekend, which makes me more than qualified to write a review (spoiler-free as usual).
Full Disclosure: I would never call myself a Thor fan. I thought the previous movies were mediocre, I’ve never read any Thor comic books, and I’ve always viewed Thor as simply a walking stoic-warrior stereotype.
So, with all the being said, I thought Thor: Ragnarok was fucking… Continue reading “Review: Thor Ragnarok”
FACT: I’m probably the world’s leading authority on Netflix shows. There’s no debating that.
As the reigning King of Netflix, I now decree that you watch The Bad Batch. It needs to happen. I’m not even going to try to write a review of The Bad Batch because words cannot begin to accurately describe this movie. Instead, I’m going to do try something new that I call Picture Movie Math; in which I attempt to describe with pictures, that which cannot be described with words. What would happen in today’s super-powered age of cinema if you took five unknown actors, dumped them into a quarry, gave them super powers and tasked them with saving the world before they had the experience to fully harness their abilities? Oh, and base it on a cheesy 90’s kids show?
It turns out, you get a pretty fun flick. Who knew?

My mother always says, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” For my mother’s sake, I’ll try to come up with some positive things about The Dark Tower…
…if you need some stocking-stuffer ideas, I expect this movie will be in your local Walmart’s ‘$5 DVD’ bin by Christmas. That’s the only positive thing I can think of. Now, on to the real meat and potatoes… Continue reading “The Dark Tower: A Fanboy Review”

Wow! This movie is incredible! Go see Dunkirk; and, as a good friend put it, see it “on the biggest screen you can find.” In fact, reading this review is a poor use of your time that could be better spent watching Dunkirk. However, since you’re here, I’ll try to do this movie justice.

I am an unabashed Spider-Fan. I own no fewer than six Spidey shirts, and at last count I have 23 collections of Peter Parker’s finest tales – not including any of the exclusive Venom sets. I had reservations going into Spider-Man Homecoming, and I am pleased to report that it was pretty good.
