Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) recently announced the 2017 lineup for Smash Up, their shufflebuiding game that pits up to four players against each other with decks comprised of two nerdy archetypes, like pirate ninjas. Fans will see two new expansions in 2017, as well as a special All-Star event for retail stores, and virtual play on Steam.
2017 Expansions
What Were We Thinking
Factions: Explorers, Grannies, Rock Stars and Teddy Bears
Smash Up: Big in Japan
Factions: Unannounced – all four come from the far East.
All-Star Event
Minions from existing sets have been selected to All-Star squads to play basketball….in space. The only way to get the All-Star decks are to win them in officially-sanctioned events at retail stores. AEG does not list a date, only stating the events will take place in the summer of 2017.
Play Smash Up Online
Nomad Games and AEG have teamed up to bring Smash Up to Steam, and will be releasing it on iOS and Android later this year. The game is currently in Early Access on Steam. You can play for free with three factions, or you can download a starter pack for $8.99 to get six more factions.
