Yesterday Nintendo revealed details on the Switch, their upcoming home console. Can Nintendo once again compete with the big boys in the home console arena? After changing the game with the Nintendo Wii, the WiiU feels like a tremendous letdown. Outside of some stellar first party titles, the game library feels like a barren wasteland.
I didn’t know what to expect from the Switch (previously known as the NX). I am far from a Nintendo fanboy, but I have argued that the gaming icon has done well in recent console generations. Check out Nintendo’s reveal trailer:

According to Nintendo’s press release, the Switch is the tablet, and it plugs into a cradle that runs to your TV. Apparently, they still have no idea how to name things (Joy-Con controllers? C’mon, man), but it is nice to see the list of developers and publishers that are working on the technology.
It will be interesting to see how long the battery lasts, and I am skeptical of playing split screen on a table, but overall I am blown away by the possibilities – imagine playing Zelda on a plane. I wold never have to touch a book or Game Informer (sorry guys, it’s been a good run) again!
Can Nintendo avoid Samsung-like issues (you know, starting on fire and grounding planes and such)?
